Consciencia Cafe and Cruzeiro do Sul Foz - a partnership that worked wonders in the kitchen!

To make today’s recipes, we teamed up with our partner, Cruzeiro do Sul University in Foz, at their nutrition laboratory, to test these two delights made with specialty coffee.

Stefani, from Cruzeiro do Sul, prepared a coffee brigadeiro, our traditional Brazilian dessert with a special touch of caffeine. And our barista Nickolas prepared the famous Iced Americano, but with a tropical twist!

For both of these recipes, we prepared the coffee in a Moka pot, which makes the coffee more full-bodied, very reminiscent of espresso, but something you can make at home. If you don’t know how to make coffee in a Moka pot, we’ve also included the preparation method below.

How to make coffee in a Moka pot - Italian coffee maker

  1. Open the coffee maker and fill the bottom part with water up to the valve.
  2. In the middle part, where the coffee reservoir is, add the ground specialty coffee of your choice until it overflows just a tiny bit.
  3. Attach the filter basket to the bottom part and close the coffee maker.
  4. A tip is to open the top lid and add just a little bit of water to prevent your coffee from becoming bitter.
  5. Once everything is set with the coffee maker, place it on low heat. When the coffee maker starts to whistle, remove it from the heat.
  6. Now just serve or use it in your recipe!

Coffee brigadeiro: make your day sweeter and full of energy!

Raise your hand if you love brigadeiro! This little sweet has been a national passion for a long time — imagine it enhanced with coffee? Yummm…

With this recipe we’ve prepared, your day will be much sweeter and more interesting! And best of all, it’s very easy to make and uses ingredients you probably already have at home.

How about giving it a try?

To make your coffee brigadeiro, you will need:

Ingredients

  • 1 can of condensed milk;
  • 1 box of heavy cream;
  • 120 ml of already-prepared coffee;
  • 1 tablespoon of butter (if you don’t have a non-stick pan).

Preparation method

  1. Pour the condensed milk and heavy cream into a non-stick pan. If using a regular pan, also add the butter. Stir until it thickens.
  2. Right after it thickens, add the coffee and stir until it reaches brigadeiro consistency.
  3. Now just wait for it to cool down a bit and roll into balls. Or eat it with a spoon — that’s delicious too!

Iced Coffee - Iced Americano: take advantage of the heat to try this refreshing drink!

On hot days, nothing better than a cold drink to beat the heat, right? With coffee, it’s even better! That’s why we brought a very well-known iced coffee recipe from around the world, the Iced Americano!

By the way, it’s the favorite drink of South Koreans in summer — did you know that?

Besides being very tasty, it’s an accessible and super easy recipe to prepare, perfect for you to try from the comfort of your home! Let’s go?!

Ingredients

  • 60 ml of already-prepared espresso coffee (1 small cup of coffee);
  • 1 orange;
  • 1/2 glass of ice cubes;
  • Cold water.

Preparation method

  1. Cut the orange in half, remove the seeds, and squeeze half of the orange into a glass.
  2. Next, add the ice to the glass.
  3. Pour in the already-prepared coffee. In the video recipe, we made our coffee in the Italian coffee maker.
  4. Fill the glass with cold water.
  5. Finally, to add some charm to your glass, take the other half of the orange, cut a slice, and place it on the rim of the glass as a garnish!
  6. And done! Now just enjoy your refreshing caffeinated drink.
